I love outlines with a burning passion. They come in handy in college papers. I always get excited when I hear of a new book in the works, and I wish you well on your transitions. :)

PS, I also appologize, if I have not before, of the seriously botched-up version of my favorite of your characters, which I have, ahem, borrowed for an internet name.

I've tried doing a traditional detailed outline and in every case it killed my enthusiasm and my natural calm nature dragged down the energy.

In my current WIP, I have more or less the cast of characters and I've decided which of them the MC will interact with when (it's a quest novel of sorts) and that's about it. I know where she needs to end up and I know that I want to make her situation worse at the end of every chapter, even when things go well the price is high.

It's the most fun I've ever had writing something. It's like controlled chaos - wild creativity and order at the same time.

The average on my current project is even worse. I've done several sets of guesses and so far I'm scoring a goose egg, but....... what is making in to the final result is sooooo COOL!!! (and much better then my original ideas)

Hmm..... that "letter outline" sounds simular to what I do when I start an amv (fan-made music video). My outline has tempo, mood and character development on a little time-line and my guesses as to which clips will work best. Out of 200+ clips I usually get about 3-5 correct guesses ahead of time.
