  1. Maybe it’s a “Time and Word Count” problem?

  2. On the writing front, I continue to plod. I’m working on the new novel, I’ve finished the first draft of a half-finished short story that I may turn into part of a collection, and I’m procrastinating the revision of the first-draft-completed novel.

I’m sure “it depends,” but I’d like to hear how long other people let a novel first-draft cool off before tackling the revision.

    • I usually write another, or a couple of short stories, before doing revisions. A different narrative seems to help clear my mind for going back and revising.

  3. I have been forcibly reminded by life that trying to only work on one writing project or write directly on my computer without having to type up handwritten scenes are both nonstarters for me, which slow my writing to a halt. Some days I just really wish I could make use of shortcuts and spend 100% of my writing time on one goal. But if I don’t at least nod toward the backlog in the brain, it doesn’t give me more.

    • Ouch.

Me, I can’t stick to one project all the way through. I have to circle back, myself.

  4. On the writing front, I got revisions on novel number fourteen done, and it’s uploaded. Yay. And somehow I got 2k words of number fifteen done today, it’s at almost 10k words.

I say somehow because I’ve been good and sick for most of a week now. Hepatitis. I’ll find out in a few days which hepatitis. No idea how I caught it…or how I’m still writing this much even so.

Note to all: Don’t catch it. Ugh.

    • Congrats on the writing things and hope you feel better soon!

  5. Trying to get some stories ready for beta readers and OUT THE DOOR.

  6. I echo LM’s sentiments, Kevin!

    • Well, it turned out to be gallstones in my gall bladder that were inflaming my bladder. Long and very painful story short, I’m home from the hospital minus gall bladder. And yes, feeling better.
