Happy holidays to everybody. Christmas and Hanuka’s first night both fall on a Wednesday this year, so I felt a more specific wish was appropriate. In the same spirit, I offer a link to one of my favorite poems of all time, John M. Ford’s Winter Solstice, Camelot Station.
I usually take the week off between Christmas and New Year’s Day, and this year is no exception. I’ll see you all again on January first!
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Merry Christmas! (Yeah, I know I’m late.) 😀
Merry Second Day of Christmas, the Feast of St. Stephan.
Wow. I’ve never seen that poem before and it is amazing.
Happy holidays!
Happy Winter Solstice and New Year Holidays!
And speaking of holidays, whatever happened to Venturesome Sheep Day?
My current WIP is in that tropical fantasy setting, with solstices & seasons not being particularly noteworthy. I still haven’t worked out holidays in the world building, except to note that they’re minor and local, rather than big occasions recognized and celebrated globally or over large regions.
And I’m in a burst of mid-writing to shore up a sagging middle that’s sagging even before I start on it. I just realized that I really need some physical conflict and violence there, to go along with the intellectual puzzle of the treasure hunt clues.
Venturesome Sheep Day is looking for a short story market that’s actually *open*, darn it.
–spares everyone the rant about the state of the short story world, and hopes you all had a great holiday and will have a grand new year–
Did the story change much since I beta-read it?
Not significantly. A few minor tweaks here and there, clarifying a couple things you flagged and such. (Thanks again!)
