It’s open mike day! Suggest topics, ask questions, complain about your work, brag about your latest accomplishment, talk about what interests or excites you, make suggestions…whatever.
Almost done with finals (my last one is today) and I finally have had the energy to do some wriing the last few days! Making good progress on the WIP so far; I just reached the midpoint of what I’m thinking will be my final plot (though everything else will need a touch-up in later revisions).
I finally concluded that a subplot I’ve been wrestling with in my WIP isn’t going to work, so now I’m in the process of replacing it with something that will hopefully serve the purpose and be easier to write. Scrapping the original subplot unfortunately meant losing some bits I liked, but I’m hoping to be able to repurpose parts of it for the new one.
I always have to challenge myself somehow, or I lose interest. With novel #21, I decided to try to do something I’ve done in short stories pretty well, namely write something spooky/unsettling.
Only with novels I really like a slow flow of revelations through the work, and the more the protagonists and readers learn, the less spooky something is.
Oops.
Oh well. It’s working out well, even if not the way I originally was aiming for.

Progress is good!

Always painful to watch them go. Sometimes it’s needed.
