  2. Glad to hear it! Looks interesting.

  3. Not sure if this is appropriate place to leave a question. I have read pretty much every novel you have ever written, seriously Enchanted Forest Chronicles is what I credit my love of reading to. Read it when I was 8/9now I’m 44 and have read it to all three of my children and all four of my grandkids. I still tell people to start kids off it when they ask what’s a good book for a younger reader who is too intelligent for most books given to 2nd to 3rd graders but still needs to be clean and of course has humor that’s smart and not just potty humor.

My husband says you are the reason I won’t read a book without some kind of humor, even if it’s somewhat dark humor.

Anyhow I some how missed Dark Lords Daughter, people talk of a possible second book. Just so I can curb my expectations I was wondering if that is still a possibility? I have read some of the WIP posting while searching for hints in the backlogs but the ones talking about it were done a while ago.

If you have come to the position to be done publishing and dealing with that crazy industry, I support you and thank you so so much for how your writing has effected my life and given us all so much enjoyment. But if you are simply seeing where life goes, taking your time and there is a possibility that you may still put it out there, please let me know.
I will read Daughter either way but don’t want to get carried away thinking of what might to be in book 2 if it’s off the table. Sorry I’m autistic and over think so much while reading as it is. So I was just wondering. Besides that thank you again and please know that your talent with characters and atmosphere within a story has blown my mind for decades and unfortunately for my family has left me with the wanderlust of writing since elementary school.

    • Yup. How To Run Your Evil Empire will be coming out in May. I just turned in the page proofs. Like, yesterday. 🙂

  4. I finally broke my losing streak on trying to write for specific short-story calls. Usually I’m good at writing to direction, but my last several attempts crashed and burned in assorted ways. This one, however — okay, it came down to the wire, but I got a last-minute idea that really took off, and wrote the whole thing in one go.

It may still get rejected, of course, but even if it does, I’ve got a story I’m happy with and can sub elsewhere. And a little reassurance that I haven’t completely lost the knack for this sort of thing.

  5. I’m a bit late with this, but I published my own take on the evergreen advice to show not tell, with reference to Pat’s excellent advice:
